Moving Off Campus

Athens, OH 20 October 2013 – I want to share the experience I had as a junior moving off campus and the choices I had to make. My freshman year I made great friends in my dorm and also made great friends in the classroom through several engineering classes. Even though I had great relations with the friends in my dorm, I decided to move off campus and live with the friends I met in my engineering classes.

I still continue to have great relationships with my other friends, but I have to say Iā€™m glad I made the decision I did. As engineers, we decided to choose our off campus housing close to the ARC and Stocker Center, where most of our engineering classes are held. We are really happy we started looking early in our sophomore year, because we were able to find a place close to the engineering facilities. I have found that studying and doing projects in the ARC with my roommates, rather than in our house, have kept us better focused and more motivated. I have appreciated the support from my engineering roommates especially during difficult and time-consuming periods. Both living together and working together at the ARC have built wonderful friendships.
