Tau Beta Pi

Athens, OH 29 October 2012 – My schedule consists of school, intramural sports, work and some semblance of a social life. You are probably wondering “Why would I want to add yet another organization into my busy schedule”.

To put it simply, Tau Beta Pi is not just another student organization (and no, it is not a fraternity). It is an Engineering Honor Society designed to honor engineering students for their academic excellence. More importantly, it helps to build your resume.

I joined Tau Beta Pi because it is a great way to meet new people and make new friends from all the different engineering disciplines. It also offers great opportunities for undergraduate scholarships, fellowships, community services, as well as leadership opportunities.

Last quarter, I was able to assist the school’s administration with important activities such as the honors banquets. As a group, we offer biweekly scheduled tutoring sessions for underclassmen to help them with homework and prepare for exams.

I have learned that being a member of Tau Beta Pi is more than just resume building and community service. We have regular cookouts, football tailgate parties and are already planning a trip to Cedar Point next semester!
