Athens, OH 10 September 2013 – As an Engineering Ambassador, there are many activities that one will participate in. The majority of time spent as an Engineering Ambassador is helping with the recruitment of prospective students. However, that is not the only thing we do. Some activities that ambassadors participate in may be more enjoyable than others. On the other hand, there are some activities that are more important than others.

One of our regular activities is participating in the Adopt-a-Street program for the City of Athens. Last week, we cleaned up our assigned location, Franklin Street. The Engineering Ambassadors believe community service and giving back to the community are extremely important. The Franklin Street clean-up is simple, but effective, when trying to help the community.

During the clean-up, we walk Franklin Street, end-to-end, picking up cans, wrappers, and any other large pieces of debris. The ambassadors partake in this activity roughly three times a year. This activity brings much satisfaction to the ambassadors because we all know it takes very little of our time and is a huge help to the community. Many people observe us cleaning the street and it is our hope that it will spark an interest in others to do the same. Community service, big or small, can have a large impact on society.
