Summer Internship at Ford Motor Company

Senior, Chemical & Biomolecular Engineering

Athens, OH 11 September 2019

My passion for engineering and technology began when I was a kid. My dad, who is a mechanic, would bring me to his car repair shop, and I would play with the wrenches, ratchets, and tires in the garage. This early exposure to cars is why I was so excited to intern at Ford Motor Company this summer! I applied online for this opportunity.

At Ford, I was in the Safety, Environmental, & Sustainability Engineering department, and I worked on vehicle emissions testing and software testing. I’m very passionate about helping the environment and mitigating the effects of climate change, so this was a perfect assignment for me. I was in Ford’s testing laboratory, so there was so much to see every day—international vehicles, unreleased development vehicles, and even the occasional shiny GT!

Ford Internship

Beyond the engineering work, Ford also arranged meetings for interns with executives, employee professional development days, and tickets to a NASCAR race. Living in Detroit was very awesome—I traveled to Ann Arbor and Detroit, got to see my favorite band Tame Impala at a fantastic music festival with fellow Ambassador Charlotte, and continued my jiu-jitsu training!

I was very grateful to receive a full-time offer from Ford, so I’m looking forward to returning after I graduate.
