Fall Activities

In my last blog post, I talked about all the things I was looking forward to in Fall. One of the events that I talked about was carving pumpkins with the other members of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). I wanted to show the results of this year’s event! We carved 16 pumpkins kind of in the dark, so I was expecting the pumpkins to turn out a lot worse than they did. I was pleasantly surprised at how artistic a group of engineers could be!

Another event AIChE has planned is our annual dinner at our advisor’s house. He and his wife make us a nice home-cooked meal. We get to play card games, cornhole, have a bonfire, and play with his dog. It’s a nice way to get to know him better and to socialize with other chemical engineering students.

I am also a member of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). Some members are going to the national conference in Anaheim, California in November. I’m really looking forward to this event because I’ve never been to California, and I’ve never been around that many women engineers! It will be a great opportunity to network and to learn from other women. November will be an exciting month!
